I mean, at the very least back out the day before. To put it short: i went from being not able to swim more than 50 yards in a pool to completing the nyc swim without having to stop frontcrawl in 8 weeks, maybe 9. But, i put some huge amount of effort towards it. I took swim classes, 4 days in the pool per week, OWS every sunday for the last 4 weeks, etc. My stroke is not even close to being perfect, but i did it. So yes, you can too if you put in the required effort.
